SouthernWorldwide.com – President Donald Trump has secured another endorsement victory as his chosen candidate, Barry Moore, clinched the Republican Senate nomination in Alabama during a runoff election.

Trump-endorsed Representative Barry Moore emerged victorious over his rival, former Navy SEAL sniper Jared Hudson, in Tuesday’s Republican contest for the GOP nomination in the firmly Republican state of Alabama, according to reports from the Associated Press.

Moore and Hudson had secured the top two positions in the Republican primary held last month. However, as no candidate managed to garner over 50% of the vote, both advanced to the runoff.

Moore, who also received endorsements from Vice President JD Vance and Senate Majority Leader Senator John Thune, is now considered the clear frontrunner in the race to succeed Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville is reportedly running for governor this year instead of seeking re-election to the Senate.

The congressman, who previously founded a waste hauling company and served as a state lawmaker before his initial election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, was among the earliest political figures to endorse Trump in 2015 when the former president first launched his White House campaign.

Moore, representing Alabama’s 1st Congressional District in the southeastern part of the state, is a member of the highly conservative House Freedom Caucus.

Hudson, who campaigned as an outsider, managed to edge out State Attorney General Steve Marshall to secure a spot in the runoff election.

In addition to being a combat veteran, Hudson has experience as a sheriff’s deputy, firefighter, small business owner, and currently leads a nonprofit organization dedicated to training law enforcement in counter-trafficking operations.

Hudson’s campaign received endorsements from then-Senator Markwayne Mullin, who is now Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security, Senator Tim Sheehy, the National Association for Gun Rights PAC, and prominent conservative figures and media personality Riley Gaines.

Despite these endorsements, Hudson ultimately fell short against Moore. Moore is now set to face either Dakarai Larriett, a pet care business owner, or attorney and former judge Everett Wess in the general election scheduled for November.
