SouthernWorldwide.com – A report emerged early Friday detailing a heated exchange in Las Vegas involving former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.

According to ESPN, citing sources, the two NBA stars were involved in a physical altercation at an NBA Summer League practice facility. The report alleges that the Heat center, Adebayo, struck the Milwaukee Bucks guard, Herro, in the head area. The NBA Summer League commenced in Las Vegas on Thursday.

Herro was present at the Bucks-Heat Summer League matchup held at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus on Friday. Sources informed ESPN that Adebayo initiated the confrontation with Herro, reportedly due to alleged social media comments made by Herro that criticized Adebayo’s defense.

These alleged comments surfaced following a significant trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami and Herro to Milwaukee, marking the end of Herro’s tenure as Adebayo’s teammate with the Heat. Screenshots circulating online purportedly showed Herro questioning Adebayo’s defensive capabilities in a direct message conversation on Instagram with a fan.

Following the Heat’s decisive 119-86 victory, Herro was observed greeting Bucks Summer League players. He also had a brief conversation with former Heat player and current Bucks forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. on the court before departing the venue. Herro did not address the alleged incident with Adebayo with the media present.

During the game’s broadcast, Herro spoke with Prime Video and conveyed that his reunion with his former team was amicable. “It’s all love in Miami,” Herro stated. “I’ve seen a couple of the guys, the coaching staff, Chris Quinn, Spo [Erik Spoelstra], the front office guys; we are all good in Miami. Just an opportunity for both sides to reset, get a fresh start, and both are super happy with this.”

First-year Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins offered a brief statement to SiriusXM NBA Radio, stating he had “no comment” on the matter and added, “I don’t really know all the specifics.”

Adebayo finalized a three-year, $166 million contract extension with the Miami Heat in June 2024. The alleged direct message conversation also reportedly questioned whether Adebayo’s defensive performance on a nightly basis justified a salary nearing $60 million.

In a remarkable individual performance in March, Adebayo achieved a franchise-record 83 points against the Washington Wizards. This monumental scoring effort surpassed Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game, making it the second-highest scoring night in NBA history.

Tyler Herro was recognized as the league’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2022 for his impactful contributions off the bench.

In response to inquiries, the Miami Heat issued a statement saying, “We are aware and not commenting.” The Milwaukee Bucks organization also declined to provide comment on the unfolding situation.
