Stephen Cloobeck, the founder of Diamond Resorts International, surrendered himself to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in West Hollywood. This action followed the issuance of an arrest warrant.
He is suspected of a felony charge related to attempting to prevent or dissuade a victim or witness from testifying. The California Post first reported on the specifics of the arrest.

Cloobeck’s spokesperson stated that the charges are false. They expressed anticipation for their day in court to address the allegations.
Cloobeck, who had previously considered a run for governor, was a supporter of Swalwell’s campaign for California governor. However, he withdrew his support after the sexual assault allegations surfaced.
Following the allegations, Cloobeck declared his departure from the Democratic Party. He famously stated his intention to become a libertarian and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the party.
He later clarified his political stance to Fox 11 LA. Cloobeck announced that he was now a Republican, indicating a significant shift in his political affiliation.
Eric Swalwell has consistently denied the claims made against him. He addressed these allegations in a video recorded at Cloobeck’s residence.
At that time, Cloobeck, who had briefly entered the gubernatorial race before withdrawing and endorsing Swalwell, revealed that he had asked Swalwell to leave his Beverly Hills mansion. He cited a breach of trust as the reason for this decision.
Cloobeck expressed his dissociation from an individual who allegedly takes advantage of women. He emphasized his commitment to supporting women’s rights.
