SouthernWorldwide.com – San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is reportedly facing an arrest warrant due to a reckless speeding incident in December 2025. The warrant stems from Aiyuk allegedly driving at 104 miles per hour near Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers’ practice facility.

The incident gained attention when Aiyuk himself posted a video on social media documenting the high-speed drive. The video captured him driving a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing through Santa Clara.

In the footage, Aiyuk was seen reaching speeds of 104 mph on Tasman Drive, a road with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. Other segments of the video reportedly showed him exceeding 110 mph.

Aiyuk, who was 28 at the time, was reportedly absent from team activities and facing questions about his future with the 49ers organization when the incident occurred.

Following the public release of the video, the Santa Clara Police Department initiated an investigation. The case was subsequently referred to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

While Aiyuk did issue a public apology acknowledging his actions were a mistake, the incident has become emblematic of a difficult year for the player. He reportedly earned over $24 million without playing a game, remained away from the team, had future contract guarantees voided, and concluded the season on the reserve/left squad list.

General Manager John Lynch has indicated that Aiyuk has likely played his last game for the 49ers. Lynch stated earlier this offseason that it was safe to say Aiyuk had played his last snap with the team, describing the situation as one that “just went awry.”

The 49ers have attempted to trade Aiyuk but have encountered difficulties in connecting with him consistently throughout the offseason. This lack of communication has signaled to other teams that Aiyuk may eventually be released.

His future with the team appears bleak, compounded by his current $120 million contract, which is considered prohibitive for other teams to inherit in a trade. This is further complicated by his absence for the entire 2025 season due to rehabilitation from a serious knee injury, in addition to the current legal troubles from the alleged speeding incident.

With June 1 having passed, the 49ers can now release Aiyuk with significantly reduced salary cap penalties. Releasing him now would result in approximately $7 million in dead money for the upcoming season, with an additional $7 million spread over the following couple of years, and about $4 million in 2029.

The situation could potentially worsen for Aiyuk. His impending arrest and potential conviction for the misdemeanor driving charge could trigger an investigation by the NFL under its Personal Conduct Policy. This policy grants the league broad authority to suspend players who bring negative attention to the NFL, regardless of criminal conviction status.

The narrative surrounding Aiyuk’s actions underscores a common adage: engaging in reckless behavior often leads to undesirable consequences.
