SouthernWorldwide.com – Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer is selling his expansive home in McKinney, Texas, in an effort to shorten his daily commute to the team’s facility.

The Dallas Cowboys have been playing their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, since 2009. For the past decade, the team’s headquarters and training facility have been located at The Star in Frisco, a distance of about 36 miles from the stadium.

Brian Schottenheimer, in his second year as the Cowboys’ head coach, resides in McKinney, Texas. This location presents him with approximately a 30-minute drive to the team facility. To reduce this daily travel time, Schottenheimer has decided to list his large McKinney home with the intention of purchasing a property closer to where the team operates.

The listing agent for Schottenheimer’s home confirmed that the decision to move was primarily driven by the need for greater proximity to his workplace. Carrie Himel, part of the Compass Sports & Entertainment division, informed The Dallas Morning News that “It really is just time being closer to work, and every minute counts, when you’re at that level, for him.”

As of mid-April, the 5,700-square-foot residence was listed for $3.8 million, according to Zillow. For tax assessment purposes, the Collin County Appraisal District had previously valued the property at close to $2 million.

Himel also noted that the home quickly found a buyer. She described the property as “a private, serene oasis,” where “every window, or every space, in that house looks at nature. So it really is a special property, it just needed a special buyer. We’re fortunate to get one pretty quickly.”

McKinney is situated roughly 17 miles from The Star. The exact location where Schottenheimer plans to purchase his next home remains undisclosed.

The house, which was constructed in 2021, features four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Its amenities include a dedicated movie room and an infinity-edge pool, as indicated in the listing. The property also offers a three-car garage.

Schottenheimer was elevated to the head coach position in January 2025, transitioning from his role as defensive coordinator, following the departure of Mike McCarthy.

The home’s setting, surrounded by nature, had provided the Schottenheimer family with opportunities to observe local wildlife. In late October, Schottenheimer recounted an unusual incident where an owl entered his home through an open sliding door during a game-planning session before a match against the Arizona Cardinals. The family subsequently contacted animal control to safely remove the bird.
