SouthernWorldwide.com – A passenger aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship has tragically passed away after falling overboard while the vessel was en route from Celebration Key to Nassau, Bahamas.

The individual, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, reportedly climbed over the balcony railing of their stateroom on the Carnival Liberty and deliberately jumped into the ocean, according to statements from the cruise operator.

Upon noticing the incident, ship crew members promptly initiated a search operation to locate the passenger in the water.

A statement from the cruise line confirmed, “The Carnival Liberty crew responded quickly with a search effort and successfully retrieved him from the water, but he did not survive.”

“We are providing support to the guest’s family who were traveling with him, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.”

The Carnival Liberty was on a journey from New Orleans to the Bahamas at the time this unfortunate event occurred.

Ship tracking data suggests that the vessel had recently made a stop at Celebration Key, which is the cruise line’s private island, shortly before the incident took place, as reported by Cruise Hive.

This death marks the second serious incident involving the cruise line in recent days, raising concerns among passengers and industry observers.

Just over the weekend, an 88-year-old woman also died after an incident where she fell from a pier at Celebration Key.

Authorities indicated that the woman lost control of her mobility scooter while near the edge of the pier, leading to her falling into the water.

Investigators are currently working under the belief that the woman may have struck her head against the side of a docked ship before entering the water.
