SouthernWorldwide.com – Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London has secured a significant contract extension, positioning him among the NFL’s elite pass-catchers.
Reports from ESPN indicate that the Falcons and London have agreed to a four-year deal worth $141 million, with $100 million of that amount guaranteed. The contract also includes incentives that could potentially raise its total value to $150 million.
This new agreement, averaging $35.25 million per year, makes London the third-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. He trails only Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seattle Seahawks, who signed a record-setting $168.8 million extension, and Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, who agreed to a $161 million deal.
London, who is 24 years old, was the Falcons’ first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft after a standout career at USC. He has lived up to his draft status, accumulating 309 receptions for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns over his tenure with the team.
Previously operating on his fifth-year option, the Falcons have made it clear they view London as a foundational player and are investing heavily in his future with the franchise.
The Falcons’ commitment to securing their core talent extends beyond London. Star running back Bijan Robinson is also expected to command a substantial contract, potentially making him one of the highest-paid players in franchise history.
Robinson has quickly established himself as one of the league’s top running backs in just three seasons. Last year, he led the NFL in scrimmage yards with 2,298, including 1,478 rushing yards and 820 receiving yards, along with 11 total touchdowns. His impressive performance earned him his first All-Pro selection, with many anticipating further accolades.
Currently, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles holds the title of the highest-paid running back at $20.6 million per year. However, Robinson’s future deal could surpass this figure, though it may not be immediate.
The Falcons have already exercised Robinson’s fifth-year option for the 2027 season, ensuring his presence for at least that period.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the Falcons face a critical decision regarding their starting quarterback. The chosen signal-caller will be instrumental in distributing the ball to London and other key pass-catchers, including tight end Kyle Pitts Sr., who is currently playing under the franchise tag.
The quarterback situation has been a point of flux for London and the Falcons since his arrival. The team has seen various starters, including Desmond Ridder, Taylor Heinecke, and Marcus Mariota, before signing Kirk Cousins to a significant three-year deal. However, with Michael Penix Jr. also on the roster and Tua Tagovailoa added for competition, the quarterback landscape remains dynamic.
London’s most productive season came in 2024, where he was Kirk Cousins’ primary target, catching 100 of 158 targets for a career-high 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns. Despite Cousins’ departure and Penix’s injury, London still managed to approach 1,000 receiving yards.
