Fetterman Likens Democratic Defense of Platner to Disgraced Ex-Lawmaker

SouthernWorldwide.com – Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has voiced strong disapproval of his Democratic colleagues’ attempts to defend or sidestep the escalating controversies surrounding Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner.

Fetterman drew a parallel between the Democrats’ current stance on Platner and their past support for former Rep. Eric Swalwell, who faced allegations of rape and sexual assault. This comparison highlights Fetterman’s discomfort with the party’s approach to candidates with significant ethical questions.

“I’m saying that the last time Democrats leaned in on a guy that was sending, you know, [these] kinds of messages to women, I think that was like Swalwell, you know,” Fetterman stated. “I don’t know, that’s not someone I’m never gonna carry water for.”

Platner’s campaign has been overshadowed by a series of revelations, beginning last year with the discovery of a tattoo featuring Nazi iconography on his chest.

More recently, a trove of old Reddit posts made under the username “P-Hustle,” explicit text messages sent to other women while he was married, and the existence of an account on the controversial Kik platform have continued to plague the candidate.

Despite these mounting scandals, many Democrats and key Senate supporters have largely refrained from distancing themselves from Platner. This reticence is attributed to the party’s strategic focus on flipping Maine in their broader effort to regain control of the Senate.

Platner is also scheduled to meet with Democratic lawmakers in Washington, D.C., for discussions.

Fetterman, known for his independent streak and occasional divergence from party lines on various issues, was notably critical of Platner, whom he referred to by his online moniker, “P-Hustle.”

However, Fetterman did not explicitly call for Platner to withdraw from the race.

When questioned about whether Maine Governor Janet Mills should re-enter the race and Platner step aside, Fetterman responded by emphasizing the problematic nature of Platner’s alleged actions. He stated, “I think you shouldn’t send, you know, sexually explicit texts or d— pics or whatever he sends to all these women on Kik.”

Fetterman further elaborated on the disturbing nature of Platner’s online behavior. He described Platner’s comments about an American soldier, a Purple Heart recipient, as “dumb motherf—– that doesn’t deserve to live.”

“He smears Chris Kyle, you know, the American Sniper, cheers about the beating [of] IDF soldiers to death,” Fetterman continued. “I dig it, like the thing he has going for him, he’s done so much bizarre and tacky and gross stuff that you lose count, you know, it’s like you need to have like a bingo card.”
