SouthernWorldwide.com – Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has commended President Donald Trump for his decisive actions in weakening Iran’s military capabilities. However, Bush also expressed significant concern regarding intelligence reports indicating Cuba may possess hundreds of explosive drones originating from Iran, posing a potential threat to the United States.

Bush articulated these views during an event hosted by United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) on Wednesday. He stood beside an Iranian Shahed-136 drone, a type of unmanned aerial vehicle known for being an inexpensive yet potent kamikaze weapon. Iran has extensively utilized these drones throughout the Middle East and has also supplied them to Russia for operations in Ukraine.

“We have decimated Iran’s capability to make mischief in the region. There’s no doubt about it,” Bush stated, acknowledging the Trump administration’s efforts. He further highlighted the grave concern stemming from recent reports.

“I also want to point out that the press reports are that there are 300 of these in Cuba,” Bush added, gesturing towards the displayed drone.

Bush sought to reassure the audience about the U.S.’s defensive strength. “We have very good defense capabilities, so this is not a press conference to scare the bejesus out of people. The United States does have capabilities of defending the homeland, for sure,” he clarified. Despite this, he emphasized that the presence of these drones in Cuba still constitutes a “threat.”

He was joined at the event by Representative Carlos Gimenez, a Republican from Florida. Gimenez warned attendees that while Shahed drones are considered “terror weapons,” they also represent the future of warfare. He underscored the escalating role of artificial intelligence in enhancing drone effectiveness.

“This is the face of warfare,” Gimenez declared, referring to the drone. “This is how war is going to be carried out in the future, and it’s being carried out right now.” He pointed to the significant use of drones in the conflict in Ukraine, where millions of small explosive drones have been manufactured and deployed by Ukrainian forces with considerable success.

Mark Wallace, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and now CEO of UANI, also addressed the gathering. He described the Shahed drone as “the ubiquitous terror weapon of mass destruction in modern warfare.”

“This drone has struck our allies across the region, killed American troops, our allies across the region… and has been raining terror across the Middle East at our bases and the like,” Wallace elaborated. He stressed the drone’s impact on regional stability and its direct threat to American interests and personnel.
