Following our initial clinic, my motivation to continue this work for them soared, knowing that if I were in their situation, I would hope for someone to provide such an opportunity.”
“It was fundamentally about giving back to a place that marked the beginning of my career,” he elaborated. “Naturally, I am Jewish, as is my family, though I was never particularly religious. My focus has always been on action and how one treats others, emphasizing morals, values, and principles. I consider it vital to demonstrate to children the possibilities that arise from a ball and a dream. Therefore, it is crucial for us to showcase the transformative power of basketball. Personally, I am convinced that basketball possesses the capacity to save the world and inspire future generations.”
Beyond his community initiatives, Armstrong is the driving force behind the upcoming JAB Classic in August. This event stands as one of only two million-dollar basketball tournaments globally, bringing together former NBA players and elite international professionals.
The tournament’s primary objective transcends financial incentives, focusing instead on its mission to “combat hate,” Armstrong explained. This concept has been in development for nearly two years.
“Hate is on the rise, and I believe sport offers a powerful platform to not only amplify our message but also to demonstrate that unity is achievable. For us, fostering unity and understanding is paramount, but gathering these athletes under one roof also creates invaluable opportunities for community engagement,” he stated. “It provides numerous children in inner-city areas the chance to interact with their favorite players, individuals they might not otherwise encounter during the NBA season. I believe there are many significant intangible benefits to this endeavor.”

“I would not be where I am today or in this position if it were not for the game.
