SouthernWorldwide.com – The Washington Nationals have banned an attendee from Nationals Park after a banner promoting a white nationalist website was displayed during a game against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
The team released a statement confirming they identified at least one individual involved, but their identity will remain private.
The Nationals’ statement expressed strong condemnation of discriminatory and hateful rhetoric, emphasizing their commitment to making their home stadium a safe environment for all fans.
During Sunday’s game, three individuals unfurled the banner in an upper deck section along the first baseline. The banner promoted a white nationalist website and included a call for the deportation of “100+ million.”
According to a team spokesperson, the attendees reportedly refused to remove the banner when an usher attempted to confiscate it before they ultimately left the ballpark.
Jake Lang, a conservative influencer known for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol events, claimed responsibility for the banner on his social media platforms.
The incident occurred during the Nationals’ “Salute to Service” ceremony, an event held before the fourth inning to honor a veteran military service member.
Nationals Park’s guidelines stipulate that “signs, banners and fan activities” should not disrupt the enjoyment of sports games or other entertainment.

The stadium is explicitly not intended as a public forum for assembly, speech, or the discussion of specific subjects.
Furthermore, there are restrictions on the size and material of items allowed into the stadium, raising questions about how the banner initially bypassed security.
It remains unclear how the banner managed to get through stadium security measures, as reported by The Athletic.
All signs and banners are required to comply with both Major League Baseball guidelines and the Nationals’ guest conduct policy.
These policies prohibit any content that is “derogatory relating to race, ethnicity, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, age, personal appearance, familial status, familial responsibilities, matriculation, political affiliation, source of income, status as a victim of an intrafamily offense, place of residence or business or any other category protected by D.C. law.”
The Washington Nationals lost the game to the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 7-3 on Sunday.
This defeat brought the Nationals’ season record to 23-24, while the Orioles improved their standing to 21-26.
