SouthernWorldwide.com – Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing new allegations from ex-girlfriends regarding violent fantasies and disturbing behavior, according to a report.
These revelations come amid ongoing scrutiny over Platner’s past, including a chest tattoo featuring the Totenkopf symbol, alleged sexting with younger women, and a past statement finding humor in an attack that nearly killed another political figure.
Lyndsey Fifield, one of Platner’s former girlfriends, shared her experiences with The New York Times. She stated that she met Platner in 2013 when he was a student at George Washington University and she was working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Fifield described how Platner would mockingly refer to his Totenkopf tattoo, which was used by Nazi death camp guards. She recalled him explaining that he and his military unit chose it because they saw parallels between themselves and the Schutzstaffel, viewing themselves as a “death unit… killers.” This explanation appears to contradict his previous claims of not knowing the tattoo’s association with Nazi symbols.
Furthermore, Fifield recounted disturbing incidents where Platner would sharpen an ax while watching television. During these times, he would apparently ruminate about assaulting home invaders.
“He said this a lot: If anybody ever broke in here, I would rape them,” Fifield told the Times. She clarified that Platner did not intend this in a sexual or “gay” context, but rather as a way to assert dominance through penetration.
Fifield also alleged that during a public altercation, Platner pulled her out of a taxi by her wrist. In another incident, she claimed Platner pushed her into a bedroom and held the door shut, only allowing her to leave after she fell asleep and woke up later.
Beyond these violent visualizations, Fifield stated that Platner would “fantasize about killing people he deemed a threat.” She mentioned that in addition to an ax he used for bushwhacking work on the Appalachian Trail, Platner kept an AR-15 rifle in his Capitol Hill home, a firearm currently prohibited in Washington D.C., though this law is under legal challenge.
In response to these allegations, Platner’s campaign dismissed Fifield as a “lifelong GOP operative who’s dedicated her career to electing Republicans,” implying her political leanings influenced her statements. Fifield, however, stated she is not affiliated with Senator Susan Collins, the incumbent Platner is challenging.
Another woman, Jenny Racicot, a fellow Maine Democrat, described an “off-and-on” relationship with Platner between 2019 and 2021. She told the Times that some of Platner’s controversial Reddit posts solidified her belief that he had issues with women.
“I recognized a version of him that I had experiences with,” Racicot said, indicating a pattern of behavior she had witnessed.
A third woman, who dated Platner and requested anonymity, told the Times that Platner would sometimes drink heavily. She felt her role in the relationship was merely “collateral damage to the world that is his,” suggesting a self-centered and potentially destructive dynamic.
The Republican National Committee commented on the report, stating that the revelations are consistent with the ongoing pattern of scandals surrounding the Democratic challenger. “Every day brings another deeply disturbing revelation about Graham Platner,” said spokeswoman Delanie Bomar.
Bomar questioned Platner’s fitness for political office, asking, “If he’s willing to do this to his own girlfriend, imagine what he’s willing to do in a position of political power. Maine voters deserve to know why Democrats are willing to excuse this deranged behavior.”
She further warned that if national Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, do not distance themselves from Platner, they will be held accountable for his actions until Election Day.
