SouthernWorldwide.com – A lawful permanent resident from Australia has been arrested and faces federal charges for allegedly falsely claiming U.S. citizenship and casting ballots in federal elections in Louisiana.

Denise Nataly Migliore, 51, was indicted on four counts by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The charges include making false statements to register to vote and illegal voting in an election.

Prosecutors allege that in October 2022 and October 2024, Migliore knowingly misrepresented her U.S. citizenship status to register for federal elections. She is accused of casting ballots in November of each of those years after falsely certifying that she was a U.S. citizen and legally eligible to vote.

Migliore was ineligible to vote in these elections because she is not a U.S. citizen.

The arrest took place on July 1 at the federal courthouse in New Orleans. Homeland Security Investigations, in conjunction with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), conducted the investigation that led to her apprehension.

Acting Assistant DHS Secretary of Public Affairs Lauren Bis stated that the arrest and charges are a testament to the diligent work of ICE law enforcement officers and federal partners. She emphasized that Migliore, identified as an alien from Australia, is now facing federal prosecution for her alleged actions.

“Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should be electing American leaders,” Bis added.

If convicted of the charges, Migliore faces a potential maximum penalty of five years in prison. This could be followed by three years of supervised release. Additionally, she may be subjected to a fine of up to $250,000 and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
