Noncitizens Registered to Vote in Democrat-led State, RNC Chair Vows Election Security

SouthernWorldwide.com – Noncitizens have been discovered on voter rolls in a crucial Democratic-controlled state for years, with some even casting ballots in previous elections, according to documents obtained through a public records request.

The New Jersey Republican Party (NJGOP) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) conducted a review of voter rolls from all 21 counties in New Jersey. This review uncovered numerous instances where noncitizens, who were in the process of seeking naturalization, requested to be removed from the rolls. They stated they were registered to vote without their knowledge, and the majority were registered as Democrats.

Noncitizens are legally barred from voting in state or federal elections. The individuals seeking citizenship expressed concern that their presence on the voter rolls could jeopardize their naturalization process.

A typical letter requesting removal from the voter rolls stated, “Please allow this letter to confirm that on today’s date, the below referenced individual came before this office to confirm her registration and voter status. She relayed that she did not wish to be a New Jersey registered voter and does not understand how she became registered through the Department of Motor Vehicles, allegedly.”

While most of these letters indicated that the noncitizens had no voting record, not all did. One noncitizen, who the county confirmed was removed from the rolls in 2015, had reportedly voted multiple times in 2000 and 2001, as well as in the 2008 general election. Another individual voted in a primary election in 2005 and a municipal election in 2000.

Additional documents revealed instances of noncitizens directly requesting their removal from voter rolls using a state voter registration cancellation form. When asked for the reason for their removal request, the vast majority of these unknowingly registered voters selected the “other” option and indicated that they were not citizens.

RNC Chairman Joe Gruters stated that the organization identified hundreds of noncitizen registrants in New Jersey, suggesting this may only be a fraction of the total. He also noted that New Jersey and other Democrat-led states are reportedly reluctant to share information regarding their voter registration list maintenance procedures. The RNC has submitted information requests to 48 states.

“You want a democracy that’s secure and elections that are free and safe and that people can depend upon, and people have full confidence in,” Gruters commented, emphasizing the importance of secure elections.

The RNC has been actively engaged in an election integrity initiative throughout 2024, a commitment that continues to the present day, according to Gruters. This effort involves dedicated staffers in 17 states working to ensure safe, secure, free, and fair elections.

Gruters also expressed optimism regarding another significant legal battle the RNC is pursuing in the realm of election integrity. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the case of Watson v. RNC, which challenges laws permitting mail-in ballots to be cast on Election Day but counted days later. The RNC’s objective is to abolish this practice, a point Gruters highlighted by referencing California’s ongoing ballot counting from recent primary elections, which extended nearly a week after polls closed.

He believes a favorable ruling in this case could represent “one of our biggest election victories ever.” Gruters further elaborated, “I mean, just what’s happened with [Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate] Spencer Pratt should open your eyes, and you should be sick to your stomach. This should not be allowed in America.”

Gruters asserted that elections with an “open-ended target date” create opportunities for potential manipulation. “We’re fighting hard to put an end to this, and this, like I said, this could be probably our biggest win ever from an election integrity standpoint by stopping this and making sure that election day means exactly what it says, election day,” he concluded.
