SouthernWorldwide.com – Odell Beckham Jr. has officially signed with the New York Giants, signaling a significant reunion seven years after his departure to the Cleveland Browns.

While his presence on the final 53-man roster is not guaranteed come September, Beckham’s signing provides much-needed depth for a team that might be without their star receiver Malik Nabers for the season opener. Nabers is still recovering from a knee injury sustained last season.

Beckham himself sat out the entirety of the 2025 season, focusing on his physical conditioning to prepare for an NFL return. In 2024, he played nine games for the Miami Dolphins, recording nine catches for 55 yards.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who previously coached Beckham with the Baltimore Ravens, expressed optimism about his current mindset. Harbaugh noted in April, during Beckham’s workout with the team, that he is in a good place, showing humility and a desire to contribute to the team and mentor younger players. Harbaugh acknowledged that while Beckham might not be the same explosive player he once was, he still possesses a valuable presence, describing him as a “2.0 version.”

During his tenure with the Ravens in 2023, Beckham played 14 games, coming off an ACL tear suffered in Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. He accumulated 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns that season.

The Giants originally drafted Beckham 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft out of LSU. He rapidly established himself as one of the league’s most electrifying receivers, with his early career statistics drawing comparisons to NFL legend Jerry Rice before injuries and team instability impacted his time with the franchise.

Beckham is renowned for one of the most iconic catches in NFL history, a spectacular touchdown grab against the Dallas Cowboys that defied a pass interference penalty.

In his first five seasons with the Giants, he amassed 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns. During this period, he was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was named the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Despite some controversies, Beckham was recognized by an independent committee as one of the top 100 Giants players of all time, according to the team’s own assessment.

Beckham’s addition brings the Giants’ wide receiver depth chart to include Nabers, Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin III, Darnell Mooney, and rookie Malachi Fields.

The team has also recently added Braxton Berrios to their roster.

With the potential for a compelling training camp, the presence of a seasoned veteran like Beckham is expected to add an intriguing dynamic, especially if other storylines, such as the Jaxson Dart-Abdul Carter controversy, were not already generating buzz.
