SouthernWorldwide.com – Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula is undergoing a voluntary recall after three infants were diagnosed with infant botulism. The affected babies were hospitalized after consuming the product, as reported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that all three infants had ingested Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula. This formula is distributed through Target stores across the United States. The affected infants were located in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Fortunately, all three babies have been successfully treated, and no fatalities have been reported, according to the FDA.
The recalled formula was also available for purchase on Target.com and Nara.com. The FDA has stated that the product was not sold internationally. While no specific batches of the Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula have tested positive for *Clostridium botulinum*, the bacteria responsible for infant botulism, the company has initiated a voluntary recall of all its whole milk infant powdered formula products.
The FDA identified three specific lot numbers that were consumed by the affected infants: 709125280E14F2, 709125288E14F2, and 708125174E14F2. Consumers can locate these lot numbers on the bottom of the formula cans.
Nara Organics has stated that it is taking immediate and comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of infants and families who use their products. The company is collaborating closely with the FDA, CDC, and state health agencies to investigate the underlying causes of these reported cases.
Consumers are strongly advised to cease using the affected products immediately. Customers who purchased the formula from Nara.com between May and June 2026 will automatically receive a refund. Those who bought from Nara.com and did not receive an automatic refund can request one through an online form. Customers who purchased the product at Target should return it to the store or visit Target’s website for refund information.
Infant botulism occurs when spores of *Clostridium botulinum* contaminate the infant’s intestinal tract, leading to the growth of botulinum neurotoxins. Previously, an outbreak of infant botulism linked to the formula brand ByHeart resulted in over 50 reported illnesses across 19 states.
Symptoms of infant botulism can include constipation, poor feeding habits, drooping eyelids, sluggish pupil response, low muscle tone, difficulty with sucking and swallowing, weak or altered crying sounds, breathing difficulties, and generalized weakness. In severe cases, respiratory arrest can occur, and the disease can be fatal.
Parents or caregivers who suspect their baby has consumed the recalled product and begins to exhibit any of these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention from their healthcare provider.
