SouthernWorldwide.com – Philadelphia Flyers’ star winger Owen Tippett revealed that he missed the team’s second-round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes due to internal bleeding.

Tippett, aged 27, had participated in the entirety of the Flyers’ first-round victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, he disclosed that the internal bleeding issue originated during that series.

“I was unable to return for the second round series versus Carolina due to an internal bleeding issue that I sustained during the first round series versus Pittsburgh,” Tippett stated in a release from the Flyers organization.

“Following a series of medical evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation under the care of the Flyers’ medical team, I am making progress and feeling better each day. Despite being cleared to travel and skate with the team at certain practices, things did not progress at a pace that I had hoped for or would allow me to safely continue playing.”

“I am beyond proud of what our team has accomplished this season and truly moved by the tremendous support of the fans,” Tippett remarked.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone for that support—both personally for me and my family, as well as our entire medical and performance staff.”

Tippett conveyed his confidence in making a full recovery and eagerly anticipates the upcoming training camp. The forward had one of the most successful seasons of his career, recording 28 goals and 23 assists.

His NHL journey began with the Florida Panthers before he was traded to the Flyers in 2022 as part of the trade package for Claude Giroux. Throughout his seven-season career, spanning 428 games, Tippett has accumulated 121 goals and 115 assists, totaling 236 points.
