SouthernWorldwide.com – Sol Ruca rode a wave of massive success to become the new women’s intercontinental champion on Sunday at Clash in Italy as she defeated Becky Lynch.

It was a rematch from their brief bout at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Lynch had pushed referee Jessica Carr in front of her as Ruca nailed a Sol Snatcher. Carr called for a disqualification on Lynch, giving Ruca the win.

However, this outcome did not achieve what either competitor had hoped for. Ruca did not feel she had sufficiently proven herself in the eyes of “The Man,” while Lynch was aiming to move past the rising star.

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis subsequently booked a rematch with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line. Ruca stepped up to the challenge and delivered a significant performance.

Lynch attempted to get inside Ruca’s head throughout the match. Her trash-talking, pushing referee Carr into the ropes to disrupt Ruca, and even trying to execute a Sol Snatcher herself were ultimately insufficient to slow Ruca down.

As the match neared its conclusion, Ruca executed a Sol Snatcher out of nowhere. This devastating move crushed Lynch and brought an end to her reign as the women’s intercontinental champion.

This victory marks the first major championship win for Ruca since her promotion to the main roster. Her rise has been notable, including a previous victory over Bayley on Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. It was at that event that John Cena specifically chose her to be featured on the card.

Ruca had been recognized as one of the top prospects in NXT and has now made a significant impact on the main WWE roster. This win solidifies her position as a major player.

Becky Lynch’s reign as champion concludes after 43 days. She had originally won the title back at WrestleMania 42, a victory that made her the first three-time women’s intercontinental champion since the belt’s inception.
