SouthernWorldwide.com – The son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade is facing significant legal challenges following an arrest in California.
Zaire Wade, son of the renowned NBA star, was apprehended earlier this week in Burbank, California. He is suspected of domestic violence after authorities reportedly discovered a woman with visible cuts and lacerations on her face and body.
According to reports from NBC Los Angeles, law enforcement was alerted by a 911 call made around 5:30 a.m. local time on Sunday. The call was prompted by the sound of a woman screaming. Upon their arrival, officers found the injured woman and Zaire at the scene.
Following interviews with the involved parties, Zaire was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
The 24-year-old was released later that day, just before noon, after posting a $50,000 bond. The report also indicated that an emergency protective order has been issued, and the case is being transferred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for further proceedings.
Furthermore, a handgun was reportedly confiscated from the location by authorities.
Zaire Wade has a background in basketball, having attended Sierra Canyon High School. During his senior year, he was a teammate of Bronny James, son of LeBron James, for one season. Their fathers, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, achieved significant success together, winning two championships as teammates with the Miami Heat.
Zaire opted to pursue a professional career rather than attend college. His most recent playing engagement was in South Africa in 2024.
Zaire is one of two children Dwyane Wade had with his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches. Dwyane Wade is currently married to actress Gabrielle Union, with whom he shares two children. Wade also has another child from a previous relationship with a different woman.
His father, Dwyane Wade, is a celebrated figure in the NBA, a Hall of Famer who secured three championships with the Miami Heat. He was a 13-time All-Star, the scoring champion in the 2008-09 season, and was recognized as one of the league’s 75 greatest players of all time as part of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
