SouthernWorldwide.com – The Trump administration has strongly condemned what it calls “two-tiered policing” following the tragic death of a British student, Henry Nowak, who died in police custody. The incident gained widespread attention after it emerged that police handcuffed Nowak while attending to his killer, who had falsely accused the victim of racism.
The State Department issued a statement on X, formerly Twitter, describing “ideological conditioning and two-tiered policing” as “glaring symptoms of civilizational decline.” They emphasized that these practices must be rejected throughout the West and extended condolences to Nowak’s family and the United Kingdom.
Vice President JD Vance echoed these sentiments, stating that the case highlighted a risk to Western civilization. He drew a parallel between Nowak’s death and the decline of civilization itself, suggesting he was abandoned and falsely accused by authorities.
The incident occurred in December 2025 as Nowak was returning home from playing soccer in Southampton. He encountered Vickrum Digwa, a 23-year-old British Sikh man carrying a ceremonial knife. Digwa falsely claimed Nowak had exhibited racism towards him and then fatally stabbed the student five times.
Despite being stabbed, Nowak was handcuffed by police after Digwa’s accusation. Officers reportedly dismissed Nowak’s claims of being stabbed, and he ultimately died while in police custody, bleeding out on the ground.
Vance elaborated on his concerns, stating that Nowak’s death was a result of elites failing to stand against “politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants.” He reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to preserving Western civilization by curbing mass migration.
Body camera footage from the incident showed Digwa alleging racial abuse and claiming Nowak had removed his turban. The police appeared to accept Digwa’s account, leading them to handcuff Nowak. The footage captured Nowak repeatedly stating he couldn’t breathe.
Digwa’s mother, Kiran Kaur, was found guilty of assisting an offender for taking the murder weapon from the crime scene and hiding it. She is scheduled for sentencing on July 17.
Digwa was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years for the murder. His knife was an eight-inch blade, considered a ceremonial religious item for Sikhs, which is permitted under British law. This exception, however, added another layer to the controversy.
The case has also brought attention to Britain’s tightening speech laws. Critics argue that the focus on potential racism blinded the police to Nowak’s critical condition. Since the Online Safety Act of 2023, several individuals have been imprisoned for online posts deemed racist.
Hampshire Constabulary has since apologized for the handling of the incident. Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Robert France expressed sorrow that Nowak could not be saved and that he was handcuffed before losing consciousness.
Senator Eric Schmitt also weighed in, criticizing Britain’s legal system for jailing people for tweets while allegedly failing to protect its citizens. He described the situation as a reflection of civilizational decline and a future being imported by the Left.
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, also commented extensively on the case. He shared a video of Nowak’s treatment, urging people to see how the police “cravenly kowtowed to his murderer.” Musk criticized mainstream media for their silence on Nowak’s case compared to their extensive coverage of George Floyd.
Musk further argued that the West has developed an “evil state religion” where accusations of racism are considered more severe than rape or murder. He posited that in such a system, an immigrant’s accusation of racism against a dying British boy would lead the police to arrest the victim.
