SouthernWorldwide.com – Top officials from the Trump administration, Republican lawmakers, and influential Christian leaders convened on the National Mall on Sunday for a significant prayer rally commemorating America’s approaching 250th anniversary.

The event, titled “Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving,” attracted thousands of participants. The program featured worship music, speeches, and prayers, all centered on the theme of reaffirming the United States as “One Nation Under God.”

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and House Speaker Mike Johnson were among the notable figures who addressed the crowd. They were joined by numerous other political and faith leaders.

In a pre-recorded message, Trump read from the Book of 2 Chronicles 7. He recited the well-known biblical verse that calls for people to “humble themselves” and seek God.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” Trump stated during his reading.

Vice President Vance characterized the United States as “a nation of prayer.” He emphasized that faith has played a crucial role in shaping the country since its very inception.

“In times of suffering and in times of triumph, millions of Americans continue to turn to prayer and their faith in God,” Vance remarked, highlighting the enduring importance of spiritual practice.

Secretary of State Rubio also drew a connection between America’s national identity and Christianity. He reiterated the foundational belief that the nation represents something novel in the world.

“But the soul of our nation has always been rooted in an ancient faith,” Rubio commented, underscoring the deep historical connection to religious principles.

Tulsi Gabbard encouraged Americans to adopt a posture of humility before God. She noted that the nation’s founders had “knelt” and “asked for God’s mercy” before formally declaring independence.

House Speaker Mike Johnson offered a prayer of “rededication.” He expressed gratitude to God for His guidance over the nation since its founding.

“Heavenly Father, we thank you,” Johnson prayed. “Thank you so much for this great day that you’ve given us here, and we remember that your mighty hand has been upon our nation since the very beginning.”

Pete Hegseth made a reference to the faith of George Washington. Senator Tim Scott, R-S.C., spoke about the integral role of Christianity in shaping the nation and argued that prayer was a central element of the Civil Rights Movement.

Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., commended President Trump for his efforts in encouraging Americans to “rededicate America to God.”

Actor Jonathan Roumie, known for his portrayal of Jesus in “The Chosen,” also addressed the attendees. He urged Americans to recommit themselves to faith and prayer.

The event also included the participation of several prominent religious figures, such as Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Bishop Robert Barron, and Rabbi Meir Soloveichik. Evangelist Franklin Graham was also present, alongside performances by Grammy-winning Christian artist Chris Tomlin, among other notable individuals.

Many attendees were seen wearing patriotic colors as they filled the National Mall for the rally.

Freedom 250, the nonprofit organization responsible for organizing the event, stated that the gathering is part of a larger initiative leading up to America’s semiquincentennial celebration, scheduled for July 4, 2026.
