Trump Vows to Continue Fighting After Supreme Court Rejects Carroll Case

SouthernWorldwide.com – The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to review President Donald Trump’s appeal concerning a $5 million verdict that found him liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll and subsequently defaming her.

This decision means the $5 million judgment against Trump remains in effect. The initial verdict came in 2023, when a jury determined Trump had sexually abused Carroll in 1996. In a subsequent defamation case in 2024, another jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million following Trump’s persistent denials and public attacks against her accusations.

The Supreme Court justices did not offer any reasoning for their refusal to hear the case.

“Surprisingly, the Supreme Court declined to ‘review’ a Fake Case brought against me by a woman I never met (Decades old celebrity photo line, standing with her husband, does not count!),” Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social. He further declared his intention to “continue the fight against this Weaponization and Lawfare Case against me, including the ridiculous claim of Defamation, with all of my power and strength.”

Trump’s legal team had argued that the trial judge made errors by admitting the “Access Hollywood” tape into evidence. This tape features Trump making lewd comments about women. They also contended that the judge improperly allowed two other women, who had accused Trump of sexual assault (allegations he denies), to testify before the jury.

Conversely, Carroll’s legal representatives argued that the testimony from these other accusers was relevant due to the strong similarities in their allegations. They also pointed out that the judge’s evidentiary rulings were consistent with established legal precedents across the nation.

“Today’s Supreme Court decision affirms once and for all the jury’s unanimous verdict that President Donald J. Trump sexually assaulted and defamed E. Jean Carroll,” said Roberta Kaplan, Carroll’s attorney. She added that Trump’s numerous attempts to appeal the verdict have all been unsuccessful, and this ruling marks the end of his efforts to evade accountability for his actions.

In a separate statement, Trump’s legal team asserted that the American people support him and are demanding an end to what they term “Witch Hunts,” including the “Democrat-funded travesty of the Carroll Hoaxes.” They expressed confidence that Trump will continue to prevail against “Liberal Lawfare” while he remains focused on his political agenda.

Trump also used his Truth Social post to accuse New York state lawmakers of specifically targeting him with legislation. He claimed that a law was created for a brief period, looking back decades, with the explicit purpose of wrongfully prosecuting him. He described this law as “tailor-made” and insisted that such an “Injustice cannot be allowed to stand!”
