SouthernWorldwide.com – Tulsi Gabbard, a prominent figure in the current administration, has officially submitted her resignation from her position, citing personal and family reasons.

Gabbard conveyed her decision directly to President Donald Trump during a meeting held in the Oval Office on Friday. Her final day of service at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) is anticipated to be June 30.

“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” she stated in her written notice. “My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”

Gabbard elaborated on the gravity of her husband’s health situation, noting that he “faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months.”

“At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle,” she explained, emphasizing her commitment to her family.

She further expressed her deep appreciation for her husband’s unwavering support throughout their marriage. “Abraham has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage — standing steadfast through my deployment to East Africa on a Joint Special Operations mission, multiple political campaigns and now my service in this role,” she recalled.

“His strength and love have sustained me through every challenge,” Gabbard continued. “I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position.”

Reflecting on her tenure, Gabbard highlighted the significant advancements made during her time at the ODNI. She stated, “I have made significant progress at the ODNI — advancing unprecedented transparency and restoring integrity to the intelligence community.” However, she also acknowledged that “there is still important work to be done.”

To ensure a seamless transition, she assured the President of her dedication. “I am fully committed to ensuring a smooth and thorough transition over the coming weeks so that you and your team experience no disruption in leadership or momentum,” she communicated.

Gabbard concluded her statement with a personal note of gratitude. “Thank you for your understanding during this deeply personal and difficult time for our family.”

She also conveyed her enduring appreciation for the opportunity to serve. “I will remain forever grateful to you and to the American people for the profound honor of serving our nation as DNI.”

During her tenure as Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Gabbard initiated a significant overhaul of the Intelligence Community. This included efforts to reduce the agency’s size, resulting in taxpayer savings exceeding $700 million annually, and the dismantling of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within the IC.

In a notable move this month, Gabbard oversaw the declassification of over half a million pages of government records. These documents encompassed sensitive information related to the Trump-Russia investigation, the assassinations of JFK and RFK, among other historical events.

Furthermore, she declassified documents pertaining to the origins of the Trump-Russia “Crossfire Hurricane” probe. Gabbard contended that these records demonstrated a politicization of intelligence concerning Russia’s 2016 election interference by Obama administration officials, who allegedly used it to undermine Trump’s initial presidential victory.

In parallel, Gabbard established the inaugural “Weaponization Working Group.” This initiative was designed to foster coordination across federal agencies in order to expose what she characterized as the Biden administration’s weaponization of government.

Under Gabbard’s leadership as DNI, the National Counterterrorism Center achieved a significant success in 2025. The center successfully prevented over 10,000 individuals with links to narco-terrorism from entering the country and placed more than 85,000 individuals with similar ties onto the terror watchlist.
