SouthernWorldwide.com – Vice President JD Vance is preparing for his debut appearance on ABC’s “The View” this Tuesday, marking a significant moment as he becomes only the third sitting vice president to grace the panel of the popular daytime talk show.
Vance is scheduled to engage with all six co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. The discussion is expected to center around his recently released book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.” This appearance follows closely on the heels of a new agreement reached with Iran, a negotiation where the Vice President reportedly played a crucial role.
When asked about his approach to preparing for the interview, Vance indicated that he views it as an opportunity for a genuine conversation, even with individuals who hold differing viewpoints from his own.
He stated that his role as the Vice President of the United States extends beyond engaging only with his supporters. Vance emphasized the importance of communicating with those who did not vote for him as well.
“We’re going to go and try to have a good conversation. I hope they meet me halfway. I’m a little skeptical, but we’ll see,” Vance added, expressing a cautious optimism about the upcoming discussion.
Vance’s upcoming appearance arrives after years of critical commentary from the show’s hosts. The co-hosts have frequently targeted both Vance and his wife since he was selected as Donald Trump’s running mate.
During a past episode, co-host Joy Behar suggested that Vance was chosen as Vice President to be a mere “carbon copy” of Trump and would not succeed in attracting new voters.
Sunny Hostin, in the same July 2024 episode, remarked that Trump “knows that he’s the vice president who will do the things that Mike Pence would not. I really do believe that. He is an election denier. He has not committed to accepting the results of this year’s elections.”
Co-host Ana Navarro once pointed out that then-candidate Tim Walz could have an opportunity to embarrass Vance prior to the vice-presidential debate held last year.
Navarro elaborated on her view, stating, “What Tim Walz needs to do is reveal JD Vance for who he is, a coward, duplicitous, hypocritical opportunist who remains silent while Trump attacks Kamala Harris for being biracial even though his children are biracial. Who remained silent while Trump supporters issue attacks on Kamala Harris for being of Indian descent, for being South Asian, even though he’s married to an Indian woman.”
Vance’s participation makes him the third sitting vice president to appear on “The View” and the first Republican vice president to do so. Previous guests in this capacity were Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
A study conducted by the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters revealed that in 2025, “The View” hosted a total of 341 guests. Among these, only two were identified as conservative, while 128 guests were categorized as liberal.
In a media appearance on Monday, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin indicated her intention to question Vance regarding the financial incentives reportedly being proposed to Iran under the recently announced peace agreement.
“He was, um, reportedly one of the chief negotiating partners. I just want to get some clarity,” Griffin stated, highlighting her desire for more information on Vance’s role in the negotiations.
