SouthernWorldwide.com – The intensity at the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Forbidden Door main event was undeniable as Will Ospreay faced Swerve Strickland in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.
The stakes were incredibly high, with the winner earning a coveted shot at the AEW World Championship at the upcoming All In event.
Will Ospreay had openly expressed his dream of competing at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London. On the other side, Swerve Strickland aimed to disrupt Ospreay’s plans and reclaim the AEW world title for himself.
The match quickly developed into a brutal contest between two of the company’s most prominent stars, marked by a significant amount of blood shed by both competitors.
Strickland’s strategy was clear: to slow down Ospreay’s explosive offense and dictate the pace of the match. He largely succeeded in curtailing Ospreay’s aerial assaults.
However, as the match progressed, the physicality escalated. Both wrestlers sustained cuts, and the determination in their eyes was evident.
The final moments saw a dramatic exchange. With blood streaming down their faces, Ospreay and Strickland locked eyes in the center of the ring.
Ospreay had the support of The Death Riders cheering him on from ringside, while Prince Nana was in Strickland’s corner.
Strickland managed to land his signature move, the House Call. Yet, Ospreay’s resilience, particularly in his neck, seemed to absorb the impact.
With a surge of adrenaline, Ospreay fought back, delivering a Hidden Blade followed by a lariat. Strickland, however, managed to kick out of the subsequent pinfall.
In a decisive sequence, Ospreay executed a Paradigm Shift, a Death Rider, and then a Tiger Driver. This final maneuver secured the pinfall victory over Strickland.
Will Ospreay has officially punched his ticket to All In.
The Death Riders erupted in celebration, joining Ospreay in the ring to commemorate his significant win.
Had All In taken place the following day, Ospreay would have been set to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship on August 30th. While there is still time for potential changes, Ospreay’s immediate focus appears to be on a showdown with MJF.
