SouthernWorldwide.com – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is urging the United States and European nations to escalate their provision of crucial missile supplies to bolster Ukraine’s defenses against relentless Russian assaults.

In a significant statement on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, Zelenskyy detailed the severity of recent attacks. “Last night, Kyiv came under a massive Russian attack. Russia launched 68 missiles and 351 attack drones,” he stated.

This plea comes as President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, which is set to convene in Ankara, Turkey, this week.

Zelenskyy explicitly called for the U.S. and its European allies to depart from the Ankara meeting with “strong decisions in support of” Ukraine’s “air defense” capabilities.

He further elaborated on the critical need for these interceptor missiles. “Our warriors performed well today in intercepting drones and cruise missiles, but unfortunately not Russian ballistic missiles. And the reason lies in the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles,” Zelenskyy explained.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized the urgency of the situation. “It is critically important that the world – first and foremost the United States and our European partners – come out of the NATO Summit in Ankara with strong decisions in support of our air defense, and thus the protection of ordinary people’s lives,” he asserted.

Zelenskyy directly linked the availability of air defense systems to the ongoing Russian aggression. “As long as Patriot missiles remain in our allies’ stockpiles, Russia is only encouraged to keep ‘vanquishing’ residential buildings,” he declared.

He concluded his statement with a forceful assertion of the collective capacity to counter the attacks. “The United States and Europe have enough strength to stop this terror,” he stated.

These pressing remarks from President Zelenskyy are made against the backdrop of the protracted and devastating war between Russia and Ukraine, a conflict that has continued for an extended period.

According to a Reuters report, President Zelenskyy is expected to participate in a dinner with NATO leaders on Tuesday. He will be joined by other prominent international figures, including new South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, European Council President Antonio Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
