SouthernWorldwide.com – House lawmakers are intensifying their scrutiny of billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates as congressional investigators continue their probe into the activities of Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.
Bill Gates is scheduled to participate in a voluntary interview with the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. Members of the committee are expected to question him extensively regarding his relationship with Epstein, a connection that reportedly persisted even after Epstein’s 2008 prison sentence for soliciting a minor for prostitution.
The interview will be conducted in private. However, a transcript of the proceedings is anticipated to be released at a later date.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, extended the invitation for Gates to testify. This decision followed the appearance of Gates’ name numerous times within millions of documents that were released by the federal government as part of its criminal investigation into Epstein.

The released files indicate correspondence between Gates and Epstein between 2011 and 2014. These communications reportedly touched upon Gates’ philanthropic endeavors and social engagements. Epstein died by suicide in 2019, shortly after being indicted on federal sex trafficking charges.
According to the documents, Epstein appeared to have become aware of extramarital affairs Gates was having with two Russian women during his marriage to Melinda French Gates. Gates has stated that these affairs did not involve any of Epstein’s victims.
It is important to note that Bill Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing. He has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein’s sex crimes against minors.
“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit,” Gates was quoted as saying in a town hall recording reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. He further characterized his decision to spend time with Epstein as a “huge mistake.”

A spokesperson for Gates stated, “While he never witnessed or participated in any of Epstein’s illegal conduct, he is looking forward to answering all the committee’s questions to support their important work.”
Gates becomes the latest prominent figure to be interviewed by the oversight panel in connection with the Epstein investigation. Previously, the committee has interviewed billionaire businessman Les Wexner, former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Further interviews are expected in the coming weeks with Kathryn Ruemmler, former White House counsel under President Barack Obama, and Leon Black, a co-founder of the investment firm Apollo Global Management.
Lawmakers have emphasized that Gates’ continued association with Epstein, particularly after Epstein’s conviction, is a central focus of their inquiry.
“We’ve said we don’t care if you are a Republican or a Democrat or who you are, the fact that Mr. Gates still had a relationship with Mr. Epstein, even after knowing about the conviction, knowing actually what he had done, I think is very concerning,” stated House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia, a Democrat from California, to reporters on Tuesday. “So we want to know what did Mr. Gates know, who else was around that orbit and why Mr. Gates continued to have a relationship with Mr. Epstein. I think those are important questions.”
