SouthernWorldwide.com – A cherished amusement park in California, after serving the community for over five decades, is set to close its doors permanently, marking the end of an era for countless family traditions, celebratory events, and youthful experiences.

Fiesta Village Family Fun Park, located in Colton, will cease operations permanently following its final public days on July 10 and 11. The park expressed gratitude to the many generations of visitors who integrated the attraction into their family’s cherished memories.

The park conveyed in a statement shared on social media and its official website, “After more than 50 years of serving the Inland Empire, Fiesta Village Family Fun Park will be closing its doors.”

“This decision was not made lightly. For many decades, Fiesta Village has been a central gathering place for families, a venue where friendships blossomed, and lasting memories were created.”

Established in 1974, this family-owned establishment has been under the management of Michelle and Patrick O’Brien since 2002. Throughout its history, the park evolved significantly from its initial offerings of mini-golf, go-karts, and water slides.

Over the years, Fiesta Village expanded its attractions to include a variety of amusement rides, laser tag experiences, and a roller skating rink, catering to a broader range of entertainment preferences.

Co-owner Michelle O’Brien explained to SFGATE that a combination of escalating operational expenses and a noticeable downturn in visitor numbers rendered the continued operation of the park unfeasible.

“The economic landscape of the amusement park industry, particularly for businesses like ours, has undergone profound changes,” O’Brien stated. “We have unfortunately reached a juncture where sustaining operations is no longer economically viable.”

The owners also revealed their efforts to secure a buyer who would be willing to continue operating Fiesta Village. However, these attempts proved unsuccessful, with Patrick O’Brien noting a distinct lack of interest from potential investors.

The announcement of the closure elicited a significant wave of nostalgic responses from former patrons online, many of whom shared poignant memories of their childhood experiences at the park.

“We frequently organized school field trips to this park,” one user shared on Reddit.

“I often wonder about the number of individuals who experienced their first dates here. I myself had a couple of them,” another commenter mused.

“I recall visiting the arcade, batting cages, and miniature golf with my uncle when I was a child. My daughter also recently visited for an end-of-school trip. It’s truly saddening to witness its closure,” a user added.

In its farewell message, Fiesta Village extended a final invitation to families, encouraging them to visit one last time before the attraction permanently closes its gates.

“We warmly invite you and your loved ones to join us in celebrating Fiesta Village one final time, to share laughter, engage in play, and forge one last collective memory together,” the park’s statement read.

“We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of your lives and your family’s traditions. The role Fiesta Village has played in fostering connections and bringing people together will forever be a cherished memory.”
