SouthernWorldwide.com – Wimbledon, one of tennis’s most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, is set to proceed without a significant luminary in the sport.
Carlos Alcaraz, a celebrated seven-time Grand Slam champion, has officially announced his withdrawal from the tournament he has claimed victory in on two occasions.
“My recovery is progressing well and I am feeling considerably better, but regrettably, I am still not in a condition to compete. This necessitates my withdrawal from the grass-court events at Queen’s Club and Wimbledon,” Alcaraz conveyed through a social media post.
“These two tournaments hold exceptional significance for me, and their absence will be deeply felt. We will continue to focus on my rehabilitation to facilitate a swift return!”
The 23-year-old is currently contending with inflammation in the tendon sheath of his wrist. This particular injury was sustained during the opening round of the Barcelona Open back in April.
This unfortunate setback means Alcaraz will also miss the French Open, where he is the reigning two-time champion, due to the same injury.

With Alcaraz’s absence from the French Open, Jannik Sinner is now positioned as the leading favorite to secure the title.
Alcaraz has a distinguished record at Wimbledon, having clinched the championship in both 2023 and 2024.
The Spanish phenom has rapidly ascended to become one of the most formidable players in contemporary tennis. His impressive run this year’s Grand Slam circuit began with a triumphant victory at the Australian Open in February, where he defeated Novak Djokovic.
This Australian Open triumph marked a historic milestone, making him the youngest male player ever to achieve the feat of winning all four major tennis titles.
This season, Alcaraz has already secured two titles, adding to his impressive career tally of 26 championships. His overall career record stands at a remarkable 302 wins against 68 losses.
