“We were the closest ship to him,” the Facebook user stated. “It took 7 hours to reach him, with no exact coordinates.”
The user continued, describing the search as akin to finding “a needle in a haystack.” Thankfully, they reported, “he was found, is alive — with a broken shoulder, but doing well.”
Another passenger on the Silver Whisper referred to the rescue as a “twist in our journey to Vancouver.”
They explained that a “May Day call was received by the Coast Guard and our ship was directed to perform the rescue.”
The passenger acknowledged the potential inconvenience for fellow travelers, noting, “Many of us might miss flights due to our delay, but we saved people and one crew member is injured.”
