SouthernWorldwide.com – San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s apparent desire to be traded to the Washington Commanders during the offseason may have encountered a significant roadblock.

Aiyuk posted a video to his social media on Saturday, appearing to target Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. He seemingly referred to Daniels by his jersey number, “5”.

“‘5’ gonna text me talking about some, ‘You’re on my team now. You follow my rules.’ Boy, I’m a grown a– man, boy,” Aiyuk stated in the video. “You gonna have to start running behind your momma and I might believe what you talking about. But until then, (No).”

In a separate post, Aiyuk specifically tagged Daniels, writing, “Tf always so funny lil n—-. Turn your savage up.”

A third post from Aiyuk suggested a renewed interest in joining Daniels on the Commanders. The message read, “Let’s run it 5! Let’s see! Need you available all szn and I’ll do the same.”

The 49ers have reportedly been seeking a trade partner for Aiyuk, who signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the team in August 2024. However, these public displays of discontent from Aiyuk, coupled with general manager John Lynch’s statements, are unlikely to aid the situation, despite Aiyuk’s considerable talent.

Aiyuk has repeatedly mentioned the Commanders, seemingly expressing a wish to reunite with his former Arizona State teammate, Daniels.

Aiyuk initially began voicing his frustrations with the San Francisco organization earlier this month. This included videos where he described the 49ers as “dumb” and “stupid” for offering him his extension. He also claimed the team was apprehensive about releasing him due to concerns about his potential performance with another league team.

The rift between Aiyuk and the 49ers has been ongoing for nearly a year. This situation escalated after the team voided the remaining guaranteed money on his extension. The 49ers took this action after Aiyuk did not participate in rehabilitation sessions for a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus he sustained in his right knee during the 2024 season.

Subsequently, the 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left team list in December, following his cessation of attendance at the team facility.

Prior to his injury in 2024, Aiyuk recorded 24 receptions for 374 yards that season. He achieved a breakout performance in the 2023 season, accumulating 1,342 receiving yards on 75 catches and scoring seven touchdowns for the 49ers, significantly contributing to their Super Bowl appearance.
