SouthernWorldwide.com – Ronda Rousey, a prominent figure in combat sports, has reflected on her unexpected appearances in professional wrestling following her departure from WWE, discussing the possibility of a return to that world.
Rousey’s time away from professional wrestling was notably brief compared to her hiatus from mixed martial arts. She concluded her tenure with WWE in October 2023 after a storyline with Shayna Baszler. Astonishingly, she reappeared on the independent wrestling circuit just two weeks after leaving the company.
She explained her motivation for these surprise appearances, stating, “By the time I was out, I was like, I would still love to work with Marina because Marina was still active, and we were trying to figure out, ‘Oh, when you were in town, maybe we can figure something out.’ And I just had a short, little window for some reason to be able to do it. We were trying to get pregnant again.” She further elaborated on her family planning, mentioning, “We were going to start IVF early in the year.”
Rousey first performed at Pro Wrestling Revolver and then temporarily stepped away. However, her wrestling presence resurfaced in March of the current year.
During her training camp for a highly anticipated MMA fight against Gina Carano, Rousey made a surprise appearance at the Crypto.com Arena. She confronted “Timeless” Toni Storm after Storm’s match against Shafir at All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Revolution pay-per-view event.
Despite inquiries about participating in a match at that time, Rousey clarified that it was not feasible. Her primary focus was on her upcoming fight with Carano. “So, then, we got to do the Revolver show and that was awesome and then this last run-in with AEW,” Rousey recounted. “I didn’t get to do anything at all because I was in training camp and all these people we’re like, ‘Oh, is Ronda gonna do a match?’ I’m like, I’m in training camp. You guys are crazy. I’m not going to be doing any matches while in training camp.”
She expressed her affection for her fellow wrestlers and the event itself, stating, “I love Toni Storm, I love Marina, and it was fun to be there for Marina’s first pay-per-view match as well. I didn’t want to take away from their moment but maybe put a little bit of a spotlight on it and a little bit of a nudge to my upcoming fight.”
Rousey’s appearance with AEW occurred concurrently with an ongoing AEW storyline involving Toni Storm being attacked on the “Dynamite” episode that followed Revolution.
When questioned about the possibility of further involvement, Rousey humorously deflected, saying, “Oh, I wasn’t ready for that question … next question, next question.”
However, Rousey made it clear that a full-time or even part-time commitment to professional wrestling would present significant challenges, particularly given her future life aspirations. “I think, just, we’re trying to have another kid now and all this stuff,” Rousey explained. “That lifestyle, being on the road and wrestling, it’s just not conducive at all to having multiple kids.”
She acknowledged that she and her family had managed to make it work for a period but emphasized that it is no longer a sustainable option. “I could be open to doing some things if it works out and it’s local,” she stated. “We’re looking to move to Hawaii, and it would be kinda cool to open a little school.”
Rousey recently solidified her status as one of the preeminent mixed martial artists by swiftly defeating Carano in a highly anticipated bout earlier this month.
In a subsequent development, she added another significant achievement to her already impressive career by partnering with Castrol to become the new brand ambassador for the renowned oil company.
“I’m the best at what I do, and I wouldn’t want to partner with anybody unless they’re the best at what they do. Luckily, Castrol is,” Rousey commented. She also shared that the experience of filming a commercial for the company was “really fun” and of high quality.

The campaign will feature Rousey highlighting the capabilities of “Castrol EDGE Extended Performance,” emphasizing its proven performance across seven critical areas: pressure, power, fuel economy, high-temperature performance, cleanliness, wear protection, and endurance, according to a press release.
