SouthernWorldwide.com – A boxing match on Friday quickly turned into a talking point for fans due to a controversial one-punch knockout that occurred within the first five seconds of the bout.
The fight featured 23-year-old Edwin Castillo against 26-year-old Viktor Jurk in a heavyweight bout. This match was part of the undercard for the Karen Chukhadzhian vs. Paddy Donovan event held in Germany.
As the fighters met in the center of the ring, Jurk landed a powerful left hook. The impact sent Castillo immediately to the canvas.
Following the knockout, Jurk appeared rather unconcerned as Castillo remained on the floor. This reaction prompted an announcer to suggest that medical personnel should enter the ring.

Medical staff did attend to Castillo, while the referee stepped away. However, observant fans quickly pointed out several unusual aspects of the brief contest.
A significant point of contention was Jurk’s action just before the punch. Many accused him of duping Castillo into touching gloves, a gesture typically signifying sportsmanship and respect at the start of a fight. Indeed, the fighters did touch gloves before the bell rang.
“He was trying to touch gloves and got sucker punchesd (sic),” one user on X (formerly Twitter) commented.
Another user expressed, “He ignored the gentleman tap to put this hook That’s super unfair…”
A third observer noted, “Looks like guy in the blue trunks put one glove up to tap for like sportsmanship and then when dud in red went to tap blue trunks swung with his other hand.”
However, not all reactions were critical. Some viewers suggested that the entire sequence might have been orchestrated by both fighters.
“Fake as f—, look at how he put his arm down to break his fall, he should be in the Olympic swimming team with a dive like that,” a critic wrote.
Another user offered a similar perspective, stating, “For the noobs. This is called, ‘taking a dive.'”
Further scrutiny revealed that some observers believed Jurk’s punch did not land with full force on Castillo’s head or face. Despite this, Castillo remained on the canvas for an extended period, well over two minutes.
Regardless of the controversy, the knockout marked Jurk’s 12th career win by knockout. This victory maintained his undefeated record, bringing his professional win-loss record to 14-0. Castillo’s record now stands at 13-3, with all three of his losses occurring in his last four fights.
