SouthernWorldwide.com – The Democratic National Committee (DNC) found itself at the center of a social media controversy on Wednesday afternoon following a vulgar online exchange with Stephen Miller, a top policy advisor to President Donald Trump.
The official X account of the DNC posted a message directed at Miller, stating, “Shut up, you ugly f—.” This comment was a response to Miller’s earlier remarks about James Talarico, a Democratic Senate candidate in Texas.
Miller had commented on Talarico’s candidacy, noting, “The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate,” and making remarks about Talarico’s physical appearance.
The DNC’s aggressive response quickly drew sharp criticism from conservative commentators across social media platforms.
Katie Miller, wife of Stephen Miller, directly addressed the DNC’s social media handler. She identified the individual managing the account as Paulina Mangubat, noting her age and marital status. “This is what a sad, unhappy female liberal looks like,” Katie Miller stated, referencing Pew Research Center data on mental health diagnoses among women.
Media personality Benny Johnson also shared his thoughts, criticizing the Democrats’ shift to profanity. “This is the party that spent years lecturing America about civility, unity and healing,” Johnson posted. He suggested this behavior explained their electoral losses.
The “Libs of TikTok” account highlighted the exchange, posting, “The official Democratic Party.”
Conservative radio host Dana Loesch commented on X, sarcastically remarking, “I’m sure this will get the votes you need.”
Similarly, conservative influencer Caleb Hull expressed disbelief, posting on X, “Hilarious these are the same people that complain about Trump being mean.”
Jesse Arm, Vice President at the Manhattan Institute, offered a critical perspective on the DNC’s communication strategy, stating on X, “This is where the median Democratic staffer’s comms instincts are.”
The DNC’s comment also faced criticism from some left-leaning accounts, such as Occupy Democrats. This account defended James Talarico, clarifying that he is not transgender and is a cisgender, heterosexual Christian man. The account emphasized that identity should not be a barrier to public service, and that Talarico’s politics are what matter.

However, at least one Democratic strategist publicly denounced the DNC’s post. Jack Appleby, a lifelong Democrat, expressed his embarrassment on X, stating, “As a lifelong Dem who’s donated free consulting to House Dem staffers, I find this so, so embarrassing for us. We complain about the right’s behavior, and now we’re doing stuff like this? Come on, Democrats. Do better.”
