SouthernWorldwide.com – Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation by the Hobart-Lawrence, Wisconsin, police department. He faces five charges related to domestic abuse, according to a police statement.

The charges include battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim, all with domestic abuse enhancements. Strangulation and suffocation is classified as a felony, while the other four charges are misdemeanors.

Jacobs, 28, was booked into Brown County Jail. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Saturday, with police responding to a disturbance call at 8:37 a.m.

The player’s legal representation, David Z. Chesnoff and Clarence Duchac, stated that Jacobs vehemently denies the allegations. They emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages and that crucial evidence has not yet been made public.

“We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course,” the statement read.

The NFL has acknowledged being aware of the situation and is in contact with the Packers organization. A spokesperson for the league confirmed this.

The Green Bay Packers also issued a statement, indicating their awareness of the matter. They stated, “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”

These developments come at a challenging time for Jacobs, whose name is now linked to domestic abuse allegations in both public opinion and the legal system.

Jacobs has established himself as one of the NFL’s top running backs during his tenure with the Packers, earning favor among fans and coaching staff.

In his first season with Green Bay in 2024, Jacobs recorded 1,329 rushing yards and a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns. He also contributed over 300 receiving yards and an additional touchdown.

This performance earned him his third career Pro Bowl selection. He became a key component of coach Matt LaFleur’s offense, helping the Packers maintain a balanced offensive attack.

His 15 rushing touchdowns tied for the third-most in a single season in franchise history. The Packers considered his signing a significant improvement after parting ways with long-time starter Aaron Jones.

Prior to joining Green Bay, Jacobs spent five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Jacobs made an immediate impact as a rookie, rushing for 1,150 yards and receiving votes for Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year, ultimately finishing second in the balloting.

His most successful season came in 2022 with the Raiders. He led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards and surpassed 2,000 scrimmage yards that year.
